Hi crafty friends! Welcome to Altenew’s A Year in Review Blog Hop. If you came from the fabulous Debby Hughes’s blog, you are right on track!
To celebrate the amazing year of 2018, today I’m sharing my favorite Altenew cards that I have created this year. If you want more details of a particular card, just click on the photo of the card to go to the original post.
I created a set of mixed media holiday cards with matching envelopes featuring the stenciling technique inspired by my card that I created last March. I used the stencils and embossing paste to highlight the floral elements from the washi tapes.
If you are not good at stamping, using the floral elements from the washi tape is a great way to complete your card design even though it takes time to fussy cut out the elements with scissors. FYI, here is the list of Altenew products I used for my cards:
- Washi tapes: Painted Fantasy and Glitter Flurries
- Stencils: Grid and Sketched Lines
- Ink Sprays: Jet Black and Gold Metallic
- Others: Blessings Stamp Set and Pure White Embossing Powder
It’s been my pleasure to be designing for Altenew since I joined the Altenew card design team in 2015. Do you know I’ve also illustrated some Altenew stamps?Make sure to check out My Stamp Designs page to see all of the products I designed for the last four years.
I created this card using some of my favorite stamps I designed for Altenew: Wildflower Garden and Crafty Life. The solid images from the Wildflower Garden Stamp Set allowed me to mix and match flowers and stems for creating my own garden of wildflowers.
With 10 different flowers of various sizes and plenty of corresponding leaves and stems, you will be able to make endless floral backgrounds with the Wildflower Garden Stamp Set.
I created a floral-themed monogram card featuring the following products: Life Is Awesome Stamp & Die Bundle, Thanks Around the World Stamp Set, Mega Alphabet N Die, and Needlework Motif Stamp Set.
I built my own floral arrangments using die cut flowers and leaves and mounted them on the two sides of my monogram N using form tape. I finished off my card by adding some black/white pearls on the background and the center of the flowers.
I created a floral watercolor card using the Watercolor 36 Pan Set and the Spring Daisy Stamp Set from Altenew. To add interest on my background, I splattered the background with Altenew ink sprays: Jet Black and Pure White after covering my images with post-it notes to protect them from the splatters.
I also added some tiny dots by picking up the ink using a tip of my jewel picker. This is a great way to create a look of the controlled splatters if you are not good at creating splatters.
I made this floral card with the stamped/colored background for my crafty friend. The sentiment says it all! Every small thing that she does make a big difference in my life. So true!
I colored my images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils after stamping the images from the Sweetest Peas Stamp Set the A2 Size Honey Mustard Cardstock. FYI, I started coloring with the darkest color first toward the bottom of my flower and applied medium color near the previous colored area and toward the end of my petal. Then I colored the tip of my petal with a lighter colored pencil.
I had so much fun stamping layered images in gorgeous colors and building up the die cut images in the embossing pasted background! As you can see above, this card is all about dimension and texture!
FYI, here is the list of Altenew products I used for my card: Sweet Rose Bouquet Stamp & Die Bundle, Hope Stamp & Die Bundle, and Doodled Dots Cover Die.
I created a fun Christmas card featuring a mounted die cut inlay and a stamped background. You can definitely use the traditional holiday color combination which is red and green. However, if you want to step up your card design to the next level, I highly recommend you give non-traditional colors a try.
After my stamping was done, I added dots to fill in the gaps between each image using a fine tip of Altenew Artist Markers Set B: Moon Rock and Evening Gray. Adding dots on the background help bring my images together and highlight my colorful branches. Of course, you can leave your background clean and white without adding dots if you want to.
FYI, here is the list of products I used for my card: Bountiful Branch Stamp Set, Mega Alphabet Die R, and Starry Night Stamp Set.
I created a clean and simple card using the following stamp sets from Altenew: Building Block and Crafty Life. I’m so in love with the aqua color on my card! It’s absolutely aqualicious!
Don’t you just love the words in a row? EAT – SLEEP – CRAFT – REPEAT… I think this card would be perfect for sending to any of your crafty friends!
I created a dimensional floral watercolor card using a very easy watercolor technique that anyone can do. I colored the images with Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers – Spring Garden Set and the fine tip watercolor brush.
I finished off my card by adding some tiny dots on my two large flowers using a white gel pen. What do you think? FYI, here is the list of Altenew products I used for my card:
- Watercolor Supplies: Watercolor Brush Markers, Watercolor Palette Bundle, Watercolor Brushes Bundle
- Stamp Sets: Remember This, Beautiful Day, Coral Charm, Simple Flowers
- Ink: Permanent Black Ink, Embossing Ink
- Others: Pure White Embossing Powder, Jet Black Cardstock, White Cardstock 110LB
I believe this was my first time that I tried making semi-shaped cards this year and I love how they turned out! Those hidden monogram letters on my cards are perfect as they are the initial letter of recipient’ names. Which card do you like the better? Red/green combo or yellow/lagoon combo?
FYI, here is the list of Altenew products I used for my cards: Ditsy Print Stamp Set, Party Banner Die Set, Pocket Banner Die Set, and Mega Alphabet Dies.
Well, there you have it…my favorite Altenew cards of 2018. I was really inspired by my own creations while going through all the blog posts. I hope you had fun revisiting them with me and receiving some inspiration.
