It’s been my pleasure to be designing for Altenew since I joined the Altenew card design team in 2015. They have amazing products – stamps, dies, inks, stencils, markers, and more – which are worth checking out HERE.

For my first card, I started cutting down my panel into 4.25″x5.5″ out of Altenew Spicy Yogurt Cardstock using my Tim Holtz paper trimmer. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Crafty Life stamp set with Altenew Permanent Black Ink on the center of my A2 size panel.
I chose the images from the Wildflower Garden stamp set as the solid images in the set are perfect for background stamping and easy for customization. I stamped the images using several Altenew Crisp Dye ink pads and here is the list of ink colors I used for my stamping:
- Coral flower: Rouge, Coral Bliss
- Yellow flower: Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle
- Mint flower: Volcano Lake, Lagoon
- Purple flower: Lavender Fields, Deep Iris
- Stems & Leaves: Olive, Moss
- Center of the flower: Lava Rock
- Leaves: Morning Frost, Evening Gray, Moon Rock, and Lava Rock
When it comes to creating my own stamped background, I always start stamping larger images first and fill in the gap with smaller images later. And it’s very important to stamp your large images in the right place as they help balance the rest of your small images.
As you can see above, I applied some darker color toward the bottom of each image to add some depth and interest to my stamped images. I love that the natural grains in the Spicy Yogurt Cardstock give it a beautiful earthy texture. What do you think? Do you still love the white card base?

I created another card using the same stamp sets and ink colors. For my second card, I only used one ink color for each image to achieve a simple stamped look.
Could you recognize where I customized the stamps? I illustrated the Wildflower Garden stamp set to allow you to mix and match flowers and stems for creating your own garden of wildflowers.
With 10 different flowers of various sizes and plenty of corresponding leaves and stems, you will be able to make endless floral backgrounds with the Wildflower Garden stamp set.
On my second stamped background panel, I add some dots between the images using the fine tip of Altenew Artist Marker: Mango Smoothie and Arctic. You could use a tiny solid circle stamp if you want to. If you are looking for an easy way to dress up your stamped background, this dot technique will give your card more finished look.
