Hello, and welcome to Altenew’s Year in Review Blog Hop. If you came from the fabulous Jennifer McGuire’s blog, you are right on track! Today the design team girls and our guest designers are sharing their favorite Altenew projects of 2016 to celebrate the amazing year of 2016.
Here are some of my favorite cards that I have created using Altenew stamps in 2016, in no particular order. If you want more details of a particular card, just click on the photo of the card to go to the original post.
(Blog Post| Simple Flowers Stamp Set)
I created a fun stamped background. Those white images inside the circle reminded me of sprinkles on the cupcake; so I was able to make a birthday card using yummy colors from Altenew Crisp Dye Inks: Rouge, Warm Sunshine, and Volcano Lake.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Way Too Sweet Stamp Set)
I created a clean and simple one layer card. I used both masking and Copic coloring techniques to achieve a colorful look on my ice cream card. I shared THREE tips for the successful ink masking technique you don’t want to miss.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Lacy Scrolls Stamp Set)
I created a new year card inspired by my Chinese friend’s wedding dress. She wore a sleeveless silk dress with the gorgeous floral pattern and bold color combination on it. I was so in love with the gold frame which added a luxurious feel to my card.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Hello Sunshine Stamp Set)
I created a clean and simple one layer card with a floral wreath to highlight the images in the set. I added white dots on some of the flowers using white gel pen and black dots around the foliages using a black pen.
(Blog Post | Vintage Flowers Stamp Set & Golden Garden Stamp Set)
I created a birthday card inspired by my amazing friend Yana’s cardmaking style. She loves using anything gold, flowers, and frame on her projects. You wouldn’t believe me how many cards I had to throw away and start over until I found some inspiration from Yana’s cards: HERE and HERE.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Floral Frame Stamp Set)
I created a watercolor birthday card. It took me about 40 minutes to color entire images. I watercolored my images with patience and repeated the process of adding colors over and over to give them depth and interest. I also filmed a behind the scenes video you won’t want to miss.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Peony Bouquet Stamp Set)
I created a Tango-inspired card – my inspiration came from a movie called inspired Shall We Dance and Zumba class I take. A red rose between the lady’s teeth is one of the most iconic images associated with Tango, but I had to replace it with a peony for my card. I only stamped the outline image and one of the layers in the set to enhance the color.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Wild Hibiscus Stamp Set & Botanical Garden Stamp Set)
I created a watercolor card with the floral background using Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 color set. I let the paint dry before adding more colors to the image – I think it worked so well for this card. I remember that I was absolutely happy with how my card turned out.
(Blog Post | Video Tutorial | Beautiful Day Stamp Set)
I created an encouragement card with a vintage floral background. My inspiration came from my Tango-Inspired card and Lunar New Year card. I took the layout and stamped background from them, but I chose a light coral and blue color scheme to create my own background.
Well, there you have it…my favorite Altenew cards of 2016. I was really inspired by my own creations while going through all the blog posts. I hope you had fun revisiting them with me and receiving some inspiration. This year I designed 7 stamp sets for Altenew – you can find them all HERE including my old designs.

What a fabulous year it’s been! I like that in my crafting, I’m fearless. I will try anything–Steampunk, shabby chic, CAS…. Top on my wish list is your Oriental Orchid stamp set (especially in Korean). I did buy your Lotus Flowers–just haven’t had a chance to ink it up. 😆 To another wonderful crafty year! Happy new year to you and yours! Big hugs, Kristina

This year in review is wonderful. I missed some of these original posts and am happy to see your favorites – which are all beautiful. One thing I like about myself is that I have done a good job raising my wonderful son.

I really want more Altenew stamp sets. Several are on my list for 2017. I love my tenacity. Thank you for so much inspiration!
Dec . 31 . 2016Gail Plaskiewicz
Oh my gosh! I have the stamp set you used on the Celebrate card! I love all your cards because a lot of them use my favorite color, yellow. I think I love you for using so much yellow! LOL I want to try to do some of what you did on your celebrate card. It’s so me because it’s so colorful, not to mention the yellow.
Dec . 31 . 2016I love the frames. Did you buy them or did you use a die cutter? I don’t have a die cutter but if you bought some I’d like to get a few. I wonder if I could make my own by cutting up some scrap paper to see how it would look. I might have to try this.
I just love all the flower cards. If I had enough sun in my front yard, I’d have tons of flowers in my yard. We have a big beautiful tree that shades our yard. We also have a ton of squirrels who love to dig up any flowers that I plant. I want to get rid of them permanently! LOL I guess I will have to be content with making flowered cards.
You did a beautiful job on each and every card!

I love your stamp designs and own most of them. You are so talented. Thanks for sharing your favorites – I love them all.

I think your cards are amazing! Very inspirational! I’d love to have some of Altenew’s gold frames in my stash! What I like about myself is how much I enjoy making cards for the people I love! 🙂

May – I love the diversity of your cards, from bright, colorful and whimsical to bold and dark. Just amazing. I have fallen in love with your Simple Flowers stamp set….so not my usual choice (Adore You, for example). I have Zig Real Brush Clear Markers on my wish list…I have a few but now I ‘want them all!’ So patience and restraint are not my strongest features! 🙂 BUT I like to believe that I am a good listener and am open to new opinions and options.
Have a Happy New Year!
