I created a one layer Father’s Day card using ink blending and heat embossing techniques, inspired my own cards, THIS and THIS. I used the cool images from the Best Dad stamp set to create my own embossed background.
I used 4 different shades of teal from Altenew Crisp Dye Ink Pads for ink blending. If you don’t have Altenew inks, you can use any dye ink pads you may already have. Don’t you love the white dots between on the ombre inked background? 🙂

How to Make a Card with Ombre Inked Background & Gold Embossed Images
- Cut Neenah Solar White 110LB Cardstock into 4.25″x5.5″ using Tim Holtz paper trimmer.
- Treat the cardstock with EK success embossing power to prevent any stray powder from sticking to unwanted areas.
- Stamp the images from the Best Dad stamp set with Versamark watermark ink. (I used the mini MISTI stamping tool because I wanted to stamp several images at once.)
- Sprinkle some Hero Arts Copper embossing powder over the stamped images and tap the excess powder off the cardstock. (I used a small paintbrush and a tweezer to flick away any stray powder.)
- Heat set the images with Wagner embossing tool gun until they are completely melted.
- Ink the colors using ink blending tools and Altenew Crisp dye ink pads: Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon, and Emerald over the embossed background.
- Attach the ink blended panel onto the A2 card using Altenew glue tape.
- Add white dots between gaps using Signo white gel pen.

May, your card is marvelous, but the part of your post that touches me most is what you shared about your dad; heart-melting. Even though you didn’t have a strong relationship with him, he loved you, as you did him. My dad – who passed away two years ago (I understand completely how challenging it was for you to make a Father’s Day card…) – never said “I love you” to me, either…but he showed me he did with his actions. I miss my dad. A lot. I agree that your husband was a ‘happily ever after’ gift sent to you from your dad; an angel in heaven, keeping an eye on his ‘always’ little girl. I know he’s incredibly proud of you…and he’s showing you love in *his* special way….
