I created a one layer Father’s Day card using ink blending and heat embossing techniques, inspired my own cards, THIS and THIS. I used the cool images from the Best Dad stamp set to create my own embossed background.
I used 4 different shades of teal from Altenew Crisp Dye Ink Pads for ink blending. If you don’t have Altenew inks, you can use any dye ink pads you may already have. Don’t you love the white dots between on the ombre inked background? 🙂

How to Make a Card with Ombre Inked Background & Gold Embossed Images
- Cut Neenah Solar White 110LB Cardstock into 4.25″x5.5″ using Tim Holtz paper trimmer.
- Treat the cardstock with EK success embossing power to prevent any stray powder from sticking to unwanted areas.
- Stamp the images from the Best Dad stamp set with Versamark watermark ink. (I used the mini MISTI stamping tool because I wanted to stamp several images at once.)
- Sprinkle some Hero Arts Copper embossing powder over the stamped images and tap the excess powder off the cardstock. (I used a small paintbrush and a tweezer to flick away any stray powder.)
- Heat set the images with Wagner embossing tool gun until they are completely melted.
- Ink the colors using ink blending tools and Altenew Crisp dye ink pads: Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon, and Emerald over the embossed background.
- Attach the ink blended panel onto the A2 card using Altenew glue tape.
- Add white dots between gaps using Signo white gel pen.

I like the one with the Copper embossing powder the best. But they are both great cards. Very masculine. Your story was very touching. My mother died when I was 19. She was my best friend. So it is hard for me to make Mother’s Day cards, but I did it for the drive, because spreading love is the most important thing in the world.
