CASology #126: Snowman Card using Heat Embossing

by May Park-

Hello crafty friends! It’s Tuesday and that means time for a brand new challenge over at CASology. Here is this week’s cue card:
Screen Shot 2014-12-14 at 10.51.39 AMAs always, you can interpret the word literally or go for something a bit more outside the box. Here is my take on SNOW:

DSC_4975

I created a snowman card inspired by my Christmas card that I made last week using lots of small images from a variety of stamps sets. This time I decided to use heat embossing instead of stamping. I started by drawing a snowman on a black card base using a pencil. Then I stamped small images using versamark ink and heat embossed them using white embossing powder. Next, I filled in the gap with same images by heat embossing them using gold embossing powder.

I created another card using same theme, but I used different sentiment and added some border strips next to the snowman this time. Which one do you like? With borders or without? By the way, you won’t believe how many stamp set that I pulled out to create one single card. Guess what? I used 10 stamp sets from my recent favorite stamp company, Mama Elephant. Do you want to know what they are? Rustic Spring, Alpine Carolers, Arctic Penguins, Carnival Cupcakes, Purrfect Pair, Make a Wish, Cross My Heart, On Point Borders, Jolly and Merry, Carnival Toppers.

Yes, I totally went crazy using all of the stamps to shape my snowman. Filling in the shape is a great way to stretch your small stamps. And the good thing is that the list of shapes is endless. Hope you love my cards and get some inspiration to make your own.

Well I am very late to the party here, but I came over from Ardyth’s blog and had to see your card … SO IMPRESSED that you used 10 different sets of stamps to make this snowman, and not a stray piece of embossing powder to be found! At first I was confused wondering what company made this collage-y snowman, because there’s no way you assembled it yourself. Hahaha, I guess I was completely wrong! Great job, May!

May, I would never even attempt that much embossing in white on a dark card base…unless I wanted to make it look like it was snowing! Perfect, just perfect!
