CASology # 77 : Happy Birthday Card

by May Park-

Hello crafty friends! I’ve been sitting on some very exciting news for a while, and today is the day I get to share it with you all. I’m pleased as punch to officially announce that I’ve joined the CASology design team. Whoop whoop! I feel very lucky to be working with the fabulous ladies on the DT who I’m looking forward to getting to know better. I’m in such talented company. Thank you, Melissa, for this amazing opportunity!

This is my first post as part of the CASology Design Team, and I am so thrilled to be on board. Each Tuesday morning, I’ll share a clean and simple card using a cue word as inspiration. Without further ado, here is this week’s cue word at CASology:

Week 77 - Bubbly

While I was looking at my favorite cards of 2013 last week, I was inspired by my own creations. I found that I’ve tried once making bubbly card and I failed(click here to see what I meant). So I wanted to recreate the bubbly card by using inks not glitter. Here is what I came up with:

To give a bubbly look on my card, I decided to create a nice round shape using Sponge Dauber. I started by picking up my color with the sponge dauber on the ink pad and dabbing it directly onto the card base. I created some circular images in a random pattern with few shades of Hero Arts ink(Soft Leaf, Soft Pool, Passion Flower) and repeated the process until I achieved the desired background.

The Hero Arts Shadow Ink worked fabulously for this technique. Layering the colors helped create depth and movement as well. I finished it off with the sentiment from Inside&Out: Birthday stamp set by Papertrey Ink. I love the way my card turned out. It looks so soft and dreamy yet CAS! What do you think? By the way, I’m entering this card into the following challenges: Keep it Simple #30A blog named Hero 1&4, and One-Layer Simplicity #1.

FYI, these are the supplies I used to create my card. Now it’s your turn to play along with this week’s cue word. Link up your creation at the CASology blog by Sunday at 4:00 pm (CST) for a chance to win a free Stampin’ Up! stamp set and coordinating punch from Cindy Coutts, our sponsor this week!

Be sure to take a look at the awesomeness created by the rest of the DT over at the CASology blog! Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a wonderful day! Happy crafting!

Today I ran across this confetti birthday card by Happy Dappy Bits at Etsy. It surprised me to see how similar it looks like to my card above. I asked to seller and she said she designed her card in 2012.

This is lovely, May … the soft, dreamy look remind me of bubble blowers when I was little … lots of multicoloured soapy bubbles floating away on the breeze! Anita 🙂
