My Memories with Hero Arts
These are some of the photos I took while I was leading a few Hero Arts Make & Takes at CHA in the past years. I’m so thankful for the great people I’ve met while I was on the Hero Arts Creative Team. By the way, do you know there is “May” at Hero Arts as well? Yes, I met my sister from another mother! 🙂
To celebrate Hero Arts’s 45th anniversary, I created a one layer watercolor card using the following stamps from Hero Arts: Thanks for Being You, Hero Florals Sunflower.

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Thanks for Being You Stamp with black ink on the A2-sized Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper. I chose this sentiment because it goes with my large floral images.
Then I stamped the images from the Hero Florals Sunflower Stamp with Hero Arts Black Ink which is waterproof. I masked off one image along the way to fill in the gaps between two flowers.
Next, I colored my images with Mijello Mission Gold 36 Watercolor Set. You can find detailed instruction on how to watercolor your images in my video.
FYI, here is the list of paint colors I used for my watercoloring:
- Flower petals: Permanent Yellow, Yellow Orange, Rose Madder, Crimson Lake, Red Violet, Burnt Umber
- Flower center: Yellow Ochre, Raw Umber, Greenish Yellow, Burnt Umber
To add interest on my background, I splattered the background with some of the paint colors I used on my flowers along with Hero Arts Unicorn White Spray. If you are not good at creating splatters, you could use a tip of your colored pen to add tiny dots. I finished off my card by adding some fine lines on my the petals using a white gel pen.
