Hello, and welcome to Altenew’s May 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop! If you came from the super talented Laurie Willison’s blog, you are right on track.
To celebrate a release of new stamps, dies, stencils, inks, and enamel pins, I created a one layer watercolor card featuring the new Ornate Foliage Stamp Set and Fancy Greeting Stamp Set.
I started stamping the images from the Ornate Foliage Stamp Set with waterproof ink, Permanent Black Crisp Ink, on the A2-sized Arches cold press watercolor paper. I left some areas in the middle to reserve the space for my sentiment.
I stamped off the images on a scratch paper first and stamped them using the second generation stamping as I didn’t want to have intense black outlines for my no-line watercoloring technique. But you could also use a light color of water-based ink instead of black ink.
Then I watercolored my images using the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set and #3 watercolor paintbrush.
FYI, here is the list of colors I used for my watercoloring:
- Flowers: Fresh Lemon, Warm Sunshine, Forest Glades, Paper Back
- Large Leaves: Bamboo, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Paper Back, Industrial Diamond
- Small Leaves: Forest Glades, Dusk, Desert Night
After my coloring was done, I stamped the sentiment from the Fancy Greeting Stamp Set with Permanent Black Crisp Ink. I chose this specific sentiment to remind myself that I can do anything including no-line watercoloring. 🙂
To add interest on my background, I splattered the background with some of the paint colors I used on my flowers and leaves. I really love how my splatters add interest and details on my watercolor card.
This is a photo of me working on my watercolor card a couple of days ago. My husband was testing out a new camera and this is one of his random photos he took.
