How-to Video | Altenew November 2018 Stamp/Die/Ink Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, and welcome to Altenew’s November 2018 Stamp/Die/Ink/Sticker Release Blog Hop! If you came from the super talented Norine Borys’s blog , you are right on track.

To celebrate a release of new stamps, dies, inks, and stickers from Altenew, I created a set of floral-themed cards with the ink blended background. FYI, here is the list of Altenew’s new products I used for my cards:

To create my card, I started by ink blending on a piece of A2 green cardstock with three shades of purple from Altenew Enchanted Garden Oval Ink Set. I inked the lightest color Wisteria for the base layer of my entire background using a blending tool.

 I applied Hydrangea and Ultraviolet toward the center of my panel and applied the Andromeda ink heavily toward the bottom of my panel to create an intense color.

To create a gradient ombre background, I overlapped the colors between each shade of purple colors. Your ink blending might look splotchy in the beginning, but believe me, once you keep blending with inks, the background will smoothen out once it’s dry.

To make my work process easy, I started stamping the outline image first from the Handpicked Bouquet stamp set on a piece of white cardstock using the light color which is Vanilla Cream. Then I stamped the layers from the Handpicked Bouquet stamp set using my Mini MISTI Stamping Tool.

FYI, here is the list of ink colors I used for color layering: 

• Flower: Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red
• Leaves: Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades
• Berries: Warm Sunshine

Next, I stamped the outline image again with Altenew Embossing Ink and heat emboss it using the Rose Gold embossing powder. Then I die cut the flower using the Handpicked Bouquet Die Set and my Spellbinders Platinum Diecutting Machine.

I stamped two different sentiments from the Inked Rose stamp set in diagonal on my ink blended panel with Altenew Embossing Ink. To give some breathing room on the background, I only stamped the sentiments toward the center of my card front. 

Next, I adhered my stamped panel on the A2 size top folding white card base using Altenew glue tape and mounted my die-cut flower on the right side of my card front using 3M foam tape. 

For my sentiment, I stamped the sentiment from the Build-A-Flower Coral Charm with Altenew Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with Pure White embossing powder. If you have any stary powder left on your black paper, you can use a dry paintbrush and piercing tool to flick away before you heat set the sentiment with a heat tool.

I felt like I needed something on the left side to balance the entire design with my focal point. So I drew two black lines on the left side of my inked background using a sharpie pen and Altenew artist marker.

I trimmed my sentiment into a banner using a craft knife and ruler and mounted on the right side of my card front over the die cut flower. To add some details, I trimmed the end of my banner in a V shape and added some dash lines on the left side of the banner using a white gel pen. 

After testing out a few different embellishments, I decided to add some dots around my flower using Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops Black to add some interest on my inked background.
