To celebrate the release of Hero Arts’s July 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit, I’ve created a card with a fun stamped background featuring the following stamp sets from Hero Arts: You’re Sweet As Pie, Food Puns, We Go Together.

- Stamping the sentiment in a perfect placement when you use a wood mounted stamp
- How to stamp your images in balance when you create a stamped background
- Masking technique for creating a one-layer card

- Simple ways to add interest on your stamped/colored background
- Various ways to use the dot technique
- Not good at blending/shading? But it’s okay because…
- My messy craft desk after my project is done!
I started by drawing a circle shape on a piece of A2 size white cardstock using the 2.8″ circle die from the Nesting Circle Infinity Die Set and a pencil. Then I stamped the sentiment inside the circle frame using the Thanks For Being You Stamp with black ink.
Next, I first stamped the large images outside the circle frame with Altenew Permanent Black Ink. Then I stamped the small images to fill in the gaps. I masked off some images along the way to create an illusion of depth to my stamped images. FYI, I used a mix of images from these stamp sets: You’re Sweet As Pie, Food Puns, We Go Together.
Then I colored my images with Copic Sketch Markers. I didn’t add too much shading on the images, but simple coloring to enhance the simplicity of my treats. I added some small yellow/pink dots between the images using the tip of Altenew Artist Markers to add interest to my background.
After my background was done, I mounted my stamped panel onto A2 size top folding white card base using Altenew glue tape. I finished off my card by adding some tiny dots and dash lines on some images using a white gel pen.
