Hi, crafty friends! Today I have a cute, colorful watercolor card that I created with the Cake Love stamp set from Altenew. This time I brought my stamped background to the next level by stamping several words on the background and adding black dots between the images.
I started by stamping the images from the Cake Love stamp set with Hero Arts intense black ink on a A2 size Strathmore watercolor paper. Then I stamped the words from the Layered Letters AFG stamp set and the holly berries images from the Vintage Teacup stamp set to fill in the gap.
Next, I colored my images with ZIG Clean Color Real brush pens using Tim Holtz water brush. I didn’t put too much effort on coloring/shading but just let the water do most of the work.
I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiments & Quotes stamp set with watermark ink, heat embossed with Pure White Crisp embossing powder on a piece of black cardstock, and mounted my sentiment banner on the card front using 3M foam tape.
I finished off my card by adding some black dots between the images using a black marker from the Artist Markers Set A. If you are following me, you may already know that I’m kind of obsessed with black dots lately. Haha!

What a great card (and idea) May, to do this for a background. As for the black dots, they are really quite effective, I wish I’D have thought of that. Love the words filling in the gaps on the background as well. Very clever!

Love your card. So pretty l do not have this stamp set but you convince me to have it after this elegant card.. I actually used these back dots in some of my card after I saw it many time here.. extremely elegant card as your usual.. Oh so pretty, I love the black dots and how you’ve combined stamp set images! The loose watercoloring is beautiful too. My craft table looks a lot like yours with lots of various crafting goodies like markers, stamps, dies, ink sprays, inks, etc. So many choices to play! At the top of my crafty wish list are Altenew’s sentiment and build a flower sets, so versatile and a great way to grow my crafty stash.
