Video: Simon Says Stamp One of A Kind Blog Hop + Giveaway
Hello, and welcome to the Simon Says Stamp One Of A Kind Blog Hop! If you came from the amazing Laura Bassen’s blog, you are right on track!
I created a floral watercolor card using a brand new Bouquet of Thanks stamp set from the One Of A Kind Collection. To create my own scene, I stamped my image three times using the masking technique.
I started by applying light color for the base layer and went over the paint to diffuse the color using a wet paint brush. Then I brought in more colors to my image to add some shading.
I softened the hard edges using a moist paint brush before the paint is completely dry. I darkened the value of watercolor by adding layers of the same colors.
If you let the paint dry between applications, you’ll be able to leave a harsh line between layers which looks cool as well.
If you make a mistake with your watercolors or you have some paint went outside of outline, you can fix it by adding some clean water on the paper and picking up the colors with the paper towel or paintbrush.
I added some paint splatters to give some interest to my card. This technique is a bit random but can create some very fun results, so I strongly recommend you to give it a try if you haven’t done so.

I made a video tutorial to show you how to create my watercolor card using theBouquet of Thanks stamp set. You can watch it below or on my YouTube channel:
Floral Watercolor Card using Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors
- Cut down Canson cold press watercolor paper slightly larger than A2 card size using Tim Holtz paper trimmer.
- Stamp the flowers and leaves from the Bouquet of Thanks stamp set on the watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black ink.
- Stamp the same image on an Inkadinkado Masking Paper and cut out the image with scissors to create a mask.
- Layer the mask over the stamped image, covering the image completely. Stamp the image two times over the mask, positioning the image partially onto the mask.
- Tape down the watercolor paper on the chipboard sheet using washi tape
- Color the images with Mijello Mission Gold watercolor set and #2 round paintbrush.
- Cover the images with post-it-notes and add paint splatters over the background.
- Remove the watercolor panel from the chipboard and cut it down into 4.25” by 5”5” using Tim Holtz paper trimmer.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Bouquet of Thanks stamp set with Versafine Onyx black ink.
- Mount the watercolor panel on the A2 sized top folding white card base using double sided tape.
- Finish off the card by adding white dots on the flowers with Uni-Ball White Gel Pen.
