Video: Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + Giveaway

by May Park-

Happy Monday! Welcome to the Hero Arts February 2017 My Monthly Hero Kit Blog Hop. If you came from the amazing Lydia’s blog, you are right on track! Today the creative team girls and guests are sharing some fabulous projects to celebrate the release of February My Monthly Hero Kit.HeroArts_HandmadeCard_MayPark_2

I’m a big fan of mixing images from different stamp sets and building my own scene which tells a story. So I chose three images from three different stamp sets to create my own scene: a bear from the Fun in the Rain stamp set, a girl and raindrop images from Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit.

If you don’t do sketches before you make a card, I recommended you to play around with your stamps on the card front before stamping. It’s a good way to plan out your card design especially when you want to build your own scene – so you know where to stamp your images and sentiment in balance.

I added some shadows along the bottom of my images using Copic markers . This step is very important as it helps create a feeling of distance between the bear and the girl. Make sure to check out my video for more details.

I made a video tutorial to show you how to create my card – I’m sharing lots of tips you don’t want to miss! You can watch it here or in HD on my YouTube channel:

How to Make a Card by Building Your Own Scene

  1. Trim white cardstock into 4.25″x5.5″ using Tim Holtz paper trimmer.
  2. Stamp the images with Hero Arts intense black ink on the card front: a bear from the Fun in the Rain stamp set, a girl and raindrop images from Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit.
  3. Color the images with Copic markers.
  4. Add some shadows along the bottom of the bear and girl using Copic markers N0 and BG10.
  5. Adhere the colored panel onto A2 sized top folding card using Tombow permanent adhesive.
  6. Stamp the sentiment from the Raining Cats and Dogs stamp set with Hero Arts black ink.
  7. Add some shimmer on the umbrellas with Wink of Stella glitter clear brush.
  8. Add little dots on girl’s dress with Uni-Ball white gel pen.

Beautiful card! I think the bear has gone out in the rain to check that the girl, his friend, remembered her umbrella before she left on a walk, and if she didn’t have it he has one to share with her.
