altenewbloghop_nov152016Hello, and welcome to the Altenew November Release 2016 Blog Hop! If you came from the amazing Svitlana’s blog, you are right on track! Today the design team girls and guests are sharing some fabulous projects to celebrate the release of 15 new stamp sets and 8 die sets including the Adore You stamp set I designed.

I created a clean and simple one layer card using the Hello Sunshine stamp set. This set includes many elements that can be used to build your own backgrounds or patterns. So I decided to create a floral frame or wreath to highlight the images in the set.

I made a video tutorial to show you how to create this card. I’m also sharing some special tips in the video you won’t want to miss. You can watch it here or on my YouTube channel:

How to Make a Clean and Simple One Layer Card using Your Own Floral Frame

  1. Cut Neenah Solar White Cardstock 80LB into 4.25 x 5.5 using Tim Holtz paper trimmer. (You can stamp your images directly on the A2 size top folding card if you want to. However, I stamped the images on the panel first and adhered the stamped panel to the card base later. Just because I wanted to make sure that my stamping surface is flat so I don’t make any mistakes on stamping.)
  2. Draw an oval shape on the paper using a pencil and the oval die from Pretty Pink Posh.(If you don’t have this die, you may draw the oval frame yourself. It’s okay not to be perfect because you are going to erase it eventually.)
  3. Stamp the sentiment from the Hello Sunshine stamp set inside the oval with black ink.
  4. Stamp the images from the Hello Sunshine stamp set along the oval pencil line using black ink. (If you use Altenew black ink for stamping like I did, make sure to dry your stamped images first before you color them with Copic markers to prevent from ink bleeding. Otherwise, I recommend you to use Memento Tuxedo black ink or Hero Arts intense black ink.)
  5. Color the images using Copic markers and erase the pencil line.
  6. Adhere the colored panel on an A2 size top folding card using glue tape.
  7. Add white dots on some of the flowers using white gel pen and black dots around the foliages using a black pen.
  8. Finish off the card by applying some shimmer with Wink of Stella Glitter Clear Brush on the images.

I never thought of making an oval wreath before, but it sure makes sense with the dimensions of the card front. It turned out beautifully. I’m looking forward to more videos with the I Adore You set you designed. I’m usually not drawn to flower stamps, but the set is so pretty and I like that there are built in “hints” about where to shade.

Love your video, Your card is beautiful. I love how you choose your colours. Altenew stamps are great. I am most proud of my Step children. They are both grown up now and my Step daughter is a great Mother to her disabled son. Being a step parent is tough, but occasionally they say or do something that I know has been influenced by me and it makes me proud, and all the ” You’re not my Mom! ” arguments worth it.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful card with us and teaching us how to color using Copic markers. I just love all your work. I am proud of myself for getting into card making even though I am not a very creative person. I am enjoying every minute I spend in paper crafting and learning so much from talented people like you, Jennifer McGwire, K. Werner, etc.

Love the card and this new release is fabulous. I am very proud that I have kept my passion for crafts alive. I gave up my job after my daughter was born. It would have been very easy to slip into the idle housewife mode. But I continued to craft, qualified as an Arts and Crafts teacher and started selling hand painted stuff. I stopped painting commercially after my son was born as I felt it was stifling my creativity. I now make cards and send them to my friends and family, am on the DT of couple of challenge blogs and also teach kids craft during the summer. All with the love and support of my dear hubby and two kids.
