Hi, crafty friends! Today I’m up on the My Favorite Things Challenge blog with this fun Christmas card as their October guest designer. I couldn’t resist myself creating a winter scene by combining two adorable stamp sets from My Favorite Things: Beast Friends and Deer Friends.
Can you guess what story I made up? Yeti is turning a deer to Rudolph by attaching antlers; then deer’s nose turns bright red. Does it make sense to you? 🙂 That’s the reason that the reindeer with antlers only has a red nose which is a red gemstone.
How to Make a Christmas Card
- Create a winter night sky background by inking the colors on a piece of white cardstock using mini ink blending tools and Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean.
- Add white splatters on the inked background by mixing white watercolor paint and Ranger Perfect Pearl.
- Create a snow hill using MFT Stitched Snow Drifts die set out of white cardstock and mount it on the card front using foam tape.
- Stamp the images from My Favorite Things: Beast Friends and Deer Friends with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink, color them with Copic Markers, die cut them with coordinating dies and mount them on the card front using foam tape.
- Stamp the sentiment from Deer Friends stamp set with Versamark Watermark Ink on a piece of red cardstock, heat emboss it with Ranger Superfine white embossing powder and foam mount the the sentiment banner on the card front.
- Finish off the card by adding some glitters on the hat with Ranger Star Dust Stickles and some shimmer on Yeti’s fur clothes with Wink of Stella clear glitter brush.
