Hello, crafty friends! Today I’m so excited to be on the Concord & 9th blog as their guest designer. I created a Noel Christmas card using non-traditional holiday colors.
This is my first time ever I made a religious Christmas card since I started making cards in 2011. I’m happy that I am now able to send some Christian holiday cards to my friends even though I’m not Christian.
How to Make a Noel Christmas Card using the Masking Technique
- Create a mask by die cutting the Mary holding Jesus image from the Holy Night Dies out of Inkadingkado masking paper. (If you don’t have a masking paper, you could use a post-it note.)
- After masking off the image, stamp the large watercolor wash background image from the Lace Leaf stamp set using Hero Arts Ombre Inks: Neon Red to Purple, Butter to Orange and Mint to Green. Then remove the mask.
- Die cut the word Noel three times from the Holy Night Dies out of Altenew Gold Mirror cardstock and glue them together to add some dimension.
- After mounting the die cut word on the card front, stamp the sentiment from the Holy Night stamp set with black ink.
- Adhere the stamped panel on a piece of Gold Mirror cardstock and mount it on an A2 sized top folding card with double sided tape.
Since I love how my card turned out thanks to the fantastic products from Concord & 9th, I created a few more cards with the same design – especially I love the screentone texture from faux watercolor wash background.

This is so lovely and creative! I like how you’ve taken a background that I never would have thought to use for this card. It makes me realize that I need to look at other ways of using my stamps and dies and not just use sets together. I like so many colors, but right now I especially like tangerine orange. Thanks for sharing your talent! 🙂

May, this is gorgeous! I have a few religious stamps and 1 die that I could easily work with in the same manner. Shades of blue would be perfect with this style. Now I can’t wait to ‘play’!

May, your Christmas card, with Mary and Jesus silhouetted inside the water-coloured ‘frame’, is divine! A truly gorgeous, innovative showcase of this lovely set. My favourite colour, at the moment, is “autumn”…the rich reds, orange and golds are all around me. Nature’s colours are amazing. How sweet you are to share one of your cards with a lucky winner; I know whoever receives it will treasure it always (and in my case, I’d be framing it!)
