CASology #107: Watermelon Popsicle Greeting Card

by May Park-

When I heard of STRIPE, I immediately thought of a watermelon. Maybe it was because of my cats licking watermelon in front of me at the moment. (Find my cat eating watermelon HERE on Instagram.) Since it’s my husband’s favorite fruit, we always seem to have a watermelon in our fridge. By the way, do you know how to select a sweet, juicy watermelon? I’ll share you one tip related to STRIPE. Choose a watermelon that has the light green stripes jagged, broken and dark green stripes uniformly dark colored. Why am I talking about watermelon? It’s because I made a card for today inspired by watermelon stripes. Here is what I came up with:

I created a watermelon popsicle card. I loved to eat popsicles on a hot summer day when I lived in Korea. One of my favorite popsicle was a watermelon flavored popsicle, so it was fun to bring my memory in my card. I almost used my Silhouette cutting machine to create a templet of watermelon slice, but I’m glad I didn’t. Instead, I used some sticky notes for masking. Anyway I love how my card turned out. So easy and yummy! What do you think?

This is how I created my watermelon popsicle card. 1)Place some sticky notes as a template to shape a isosceles triangle. 2)Place another sticky note to mask the top of the open area. Then apply color using a sponge dauber and Distress Ink Mowed Lawn. 3)Mask the bottom of the open area. Then apply color through the opening in the mask using a sponge dauber and Distress Ink Festive Berries. 4)Draw popsicle stick using Copic: E34. 5)Draw black dots in the red part to represent the seeds using Copic: C9. 6)Stamp sentiment from Bowtiful Additions stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts.

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your web site. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility problems?
A number of my blog readers have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks great
in Opera. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this
    issue? https://en.gravatar.com/beehoney01

I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your website?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with
it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.

Maybe you could space it out better? http://forum.geonames.org/gforum/user/profile/503755.page
