Waffle Flower: One Layer Floral Card

by May Park-

Hello, crafty friends! Today I’m excited to be sharing a card that I created using the brand new Loved Stamp Set from Waffle Flower Crafts. It is such a great set filled with gorgeous and unique floral images that you can use to create your own floral cluster or bouquet. To be honest, I sometimes struggle with floral cards when it comes to builder stamp sets. But I was happy to find that the Loved Stamp Set was so simple to work with. All the images fit together beautifully. Now I am getting comfortable with builder set. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:

DSC_5494-2In the beginning, I wanted to create a card using watercolors. But it didn’t work as I planned. After a few failed attempts at watercoloring, I decided to go with basic stamping. Then I added unique details to my card by tracing all the stamped images with black pen. I think it added a little extra interest and dimension to my one layer card.

Here is a closer look at my card. I tried to keep it pretty loose and organic looking, so the black lines are quite uneven and crooked. (There is really no right or wrong way on card making, right?) The black lines helped my images really popped. I also made the berries stand out with Glossy Accents. It’s a shame that my camera failed to catch the glossy look on berries. It looks way better in real life! (By the way, I’m entering this into Hero Arts One Layer challenge.)

For those of you who what to see how I made my card, this is a quick step-by-step photo tutorial. 1)Make card base using creme cardstock. Stamp the flower images in Orange Soda ink. Then fill in the flower centers with clusters of the dot stamp in Butter Bar ink. 2)Stamp the sentiment in black ink. 3)Stamp the leaves in Soft Olive ink. (I masked off the flowers while stamping.) 4)Fill in a few open spots by stamping the berry image in Passion Flower ink. 5)Draw the lines along the images using Pigma Micron black pen. 6)Finish off the card by adding some Glossy Accents on berries.

(Loved Stamp Set, Flower Circles Stamp Set, Bowtiful Additions Stamp Set, Bowtiful Stamp Set)

By the way, I used four different stamp sets to put together my card. Can you guess what they were? Here is the list: flower images from Loved Stamp Set, berry image from Flower Circles Stamp Set, YOU’RE from Bowtiful Stamp Set, and BEAUTIFUL from Bowtiful Additions Stamp Set. I love to combine the images from different stamp sets to stretch my creativity.

Well, that’s all I have today. Hope you like my card and get some inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!
