Happy Tuesday! Before I started today’s post, I wanted to say big thanks to those of you who voted for my cards and sent me support in each and every round in the Gallery Idol 2014 card contest. I didn’t make the top, but I’ve learned a lot through the whole competition and had tons of fun! Throughout each round, I strove to create my best work, and I had a great time stretching my creativity. I’m so proud of myself making it to the Top 5. 🙂Last week we had a blast celebrating the 100th challenge at CASology. Hope you enjoyed our giveaways for the past 10 days and got to know better our design team members. I really appreciate your sweet words and love for CASology. Now it’s time for a brand new cue word, and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
When I saw this week’s cue word, WOOD, I immediately thought of tree. I wanted to raise awareness and appreciation of our world’s trees by making a thank you card as without trees we would not be alive today. Thank a tree! Then I created one layer card using Flutter By stamp set from Lawn Fawn and Best Mom Ever stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I used Neenah 80lb kraft cardstock for my card base and colored the leaves using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. I added some interesting color gradients on the leaves by mixing some water with ink.
I know this is so easy to make, but I still want to share a quick photo tutorial to show you how I put together my card. 1)Make card from cardstock and stamp big leaf image in black. (I masked off the top using sticky note.) 2)Stamp small leaf images in black. 3)Color the stamped images using distress ink and water brush. 4)Stamp the sentiment in black. (After my card was done, I added one more leaf image next to the sentiment.)
