Happy Monday! I am so thrilled that I made the Top 20 in Paper Crafts Gallery Idol 2014 card contest! There were 20 cards selected from 400 cards submitted in the Open Auditions last week. I am so honored that my card was one of them. Thank you all so much for your support and sweet comments on my music themed card.
Now it’s time to focus on round two! The theme is to create a card that features die-cutting. Then I decided to use both machine-cutting and die-cutiing to create a fun summer card. Here we go with my version of this challenge:
Today is Memorial day! It’s also a day when we kick off the unofficial start of the Summer season with BBQ’s and all kinds of outdoor activities. That reminded me of drinking some soft drink at the pool or beach. Yes, I don’t drink alcohol. 😉
That’s the path I came up the idea for a soft drink themed card using Silhouette cutting machine along with my own random wave pattern. Doesn’t it look like a orange soda bottle floating in the water? Looks so cool! I’m so happy with how my card turned out. Hope you like it, too!
This is how I put together my card. 1)Cut a piece of yellow cardstock and heat emboss it using Clear Ultra Thick Enamel embossing powder from Ranger. 2)Punch out some tiny circles using Crop A Dile punch and adhere the yellow panel onto the card base. 3)Create the bottle image using Silhoutte design studio and cut it out using Silhouette cutting machine. 4)Heat emboss the sentiment from My Favorite Sentiments using white embossing powder.
5)Draw some random waves on the blue panel using white gel pen. (I masked the sentiment using sticky tape.) 6)Place the blue panel over the card base using foam tape. Die cut the letters using alphabet dies from Avery Elle and cut out the water drop images using Silhouette cutting machine. (I bought the rain cloud cutting file from Silhouette store, and I adjusted the file to get the shape I wanted.) Then adhere them onto the card and apply some glossy accents over them.
Here is a closer look at my card. I really love the condensation effect that enamel heat embossing created! It looks fabulous in real life. I also love the glossy look on the letters. Hope you can catch the gorgeousness from the photo above. 🙂
Well, it’s now time for you to go vote. Please go HERE to check out all the amazing entries, then vote for your favorite! If you think you want to vote for mine, then you can find a direct link to my entry HERE! That’s all for me today. Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!
