This challenge really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. Because washi tape is the last thing I want to use for a card. Don’t get me wrong, though. I love washi tape, and I have loads of washi tapes that I collect and hoard. It’s just that I have no idea what to do with it. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:
I created music themed card using narrow washi tape in rainbow colors. This card is pretty clean and graphic in my book. Making my own music volume equalizer was challenging and time consuming at the same time. My patience was tested for cutting those little strips precisely and adhering them evenly in between. It took me almost 40 minutes or maybe slightly more to complete this whole card.
Here is a secret. I have another five cards sitting on my craft desk which were exactly same design with above. They are all from my failed attempts over the few days. I could’t stand one single tiny flaw on my card, so I had to make another until I was entirely satisfied with. Hope you don’t think I’m too crazy! *wink* Anyway, I’m glad that I didn’t give up along the tough process. The result is quite worth it. What do you think?
This is how I made my card. 1)Stamp the sentiment from Good Times stamp set on the card front in black. 2)Die cut circles using My Favorite Things’ Circle Die-namics and Cuttlebug Die-Cut Machine. 3)Heat emboss the donut-shaped diecut using watermark ink and clear embossing powder. 4)Assemble the pieces to crate a record, then cut them into two pieces, and adhere the large piece over the card base using dimensional adhesive. I used brads in the middle for adding an accent. 5)Adhere the strips of narrow washi tape to card base vertically, masking sure leaving some gap between them. I used a craft knife to cut them straight. 6)Color the open area of the sentiment using black marker.
Here is a closer look at my card. Don’t you just love the sentiment? “Everyday I’m shuffling.” It really fits to my music scene. Thanks to my sweet friend, Alice, for helping me choose the right sentiment. I love the glossy look of the record as well. Clear embossing added so much texture and interest to my record.
Well, that’s it for me. Now, crossing my fingers and wait. You can see all the amazing entries to 2014 Gallery Idol here. Good luck to everyone who take part in this challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

A number of them are rife with spelling issues and
I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will
