Catered Crop : Paper Windmill Flower Card

by May Park-

Happy almost Easter weekend, crafty friends! I hope you have a fun few days ahead of you! Tonight I’m sharing a card that I made for the Catered Crop: Think Green challenge.

With Earth Day on April 22 and National Arbor Day on April 25, it’s the perfect time to Think Green. Just make a project that includes the color green and come join our party. And, of course, be sure to recycle your scraps.

I asked to myself what the most efficient renewable green energy source was. Solar power, wind energy, geothermal energy, and hydroelectric power… I didn’t know exact answer, but I did know that wind power is environmentally friendly. Thinking green reminded of the time when I went to Palm Springs for weekend getaway. I was amazed by tons of windmills along the road. Actually they were no windmills, only wind turbines. I learned that there were about 2,700 of them in San Gorgonio Wind Park – the oldest wind farm in the US-, Palm Springs.

That’s the path I came up with a windmill flower card using Rock My World Stamp Set from Waffle Flower. Depending on your perspective, it could be seen as a flower, windmill, or pinwheel. What do you see in the polaroid?

Here is how I created my card. 1)Mask the bottom of the card front and ink with Broken China Distress Ink. 2)Mask the top of the card front and ink with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. 3)Mask the card front and stamp the grass image from the Rock My World Stamp Set. 4)Die cut the bow using Bowtiful Die, cut into four pieces, and assemble the flower. 5)Stamp the stem image, adhere the flower using foam tape, and put some enamel dot on it. 6)Die cut the polaroid using Papertrey Ink Frame Die and adhere to the card front. 7)Die cut the banner, stamp the sentiment from the Rock My World Stamp Set, ink the edge, and adhere to the polaroid panel using foam tape.

I love the colors in my card- yellow and green! Aren’t they perfect for a Spring card. Love the subtle inking behind the polaroid, too. Hope you like my creation as much as I do.

Just imagine you are standing at the top of the green hill and you smell the flower in the air or you feel the nice breeze near the windmill. Can you feel the refreshing energy from inside of your body? Actually this is the way my husband says to me whenever I have a migraine. Imagining myself in the green makes me feel way better for sure.

FYI, these are the supplies I used to create my card: Cuttlebug die-cut machine and polaroid/banner die were not pictured.

There is a fabulous Pinterest board that Linda has curated. You can head over to her board, Green, to find links to all the inspiring projects. Make sure to stop by the Catered Crop blog to see the rest of the DT creations on Sunday, April 20. I hope you play along with us as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!

Hi there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m
having a tough time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for
something completely unique. P.S My apologies
for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
