CASE Study #180: Floral Themed Card with Watercolor Diecuts

by May Park-

Hi crafty friends! This is my final post as a February guest designer at CASE Study. I’ve had a blast working with all the talented ladies on the team this month, I want to thank Iwona for the opportunity to join her design team for a few weeks. Without further ado, here is Danielle’s card for this week’s challenge:

CSC180

I love all the elements she had on her card. I was drawn to the flowers, the bright colors, and gingham pattern underneath the scalloped white panel. CASEing her gorgeous card really pushed me to think outside of my comfort zone and explore the options that I hadn’t before. Then I came up with a spring themed card with lots of little flowers.

I started by matting some patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye on the card base from Simon Says Stamp. Then I created the flower clusters using PTI Mini Blooms stamp set and coordinating dies on the scalloped panel. Next, I adhered the frame die cut after gold heat embossing the sentiment from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments. I finished off my card with some gold studs between the flowers.

Here is a close-up of all the details from this card. I love the washed out, loose watercolor look on each die cut. So beautiful and refreshing! What do you think? Hope you like my card!

FYI, I’d like to share step-by-step instructions on how to make the flower clusters with watercolors. 1)Apply watercolor paints on a piece of watercolor paper after misting some water over the paper. 2)Dry the watercolor pieces with heat tool. 3)Die cut the flowers and leaves. 4)Add the flower images on some of the die cuts. 5)Stamp the whole flower image on the white panel after punching it with scallop border punch. 6)Adhere the die cuts on the stamped panel using foam tape and glossy accents.

FYI, these are the supplies I used to create my card: Cuttlebug cutting machine was not pictured. That is it for toady. Please stop by the CASE Study challenge blog for more inspiration, and I hope you will get a chance to play along! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!

I love the citrus fruity colours. Just that the watercolour effect isn’t that obvious with some of the dominant diecuts mainly in solid colours.
