CASE Study #172: Happy Birthday Card

by May Park-

Happy Friday crafty friends! It’s been almost two months since I made a card last year. I have stayed in South Korea for the past two months because of family issues, and I returned home on Christmas Eve. Couldn’t be happier to be back home and finally get my hands inky.

Yesterday I played along with CASE Study challenge #172. When I saw the inspiration photo above, I couldn’t believe my eyes, because I haven’t seen like these beautiful cookies icing delicately. These cookies are a work of folk art! I was inspired by colors, doily, and embroidery look. So here is what I came up with:

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday. Right, I created this card for him. I was thinking for a long time to make him one of the best birthday card. But it turned out a last minute birthday card again. I almost missed writing a message inside before he came home, because I was running out of time. Dose it happen to you, too? This seems to happen to me every year. It’s always hectic when his birthday comes.

Here is how I crated my card. 1)Stamp the Rustic Wreath image on a kraft card base in watermark ink. 2)Sprinkle some white embossing powder over the stamped images. 3)Heat emboss the images using heat tool. 4)Color in some leaves using a white Gelly Roll pen and watercolor pencils in different colors. 5)Round the top corner of the card. 6)Add the sentiment from Inside&Out: Birthday stamp set by Papertrey Ink.

FYI, these are the supplies I used to create my card: the heat tool and white pen were not pictured. Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!

I like the clear style of your card!
I had similar problems last year with the card for my husband… I started to create it in the last moment with 3 excited kids around me and the cake in the oven *g*
Was a card with a turning wheel inside and I stamped all the tiny pictures in the wrong direction… But he was happy with it,smiled about my story and the next day I made a new wheel for hin and everything was fin, also for me.

I fell head over Nike’s for this one! SO I case’d it a little, far cry from your loveliness in CAS here, though your card did push me over the edge (coupled with sweet ANY T’s card) to join in the Case Study!

Shhhhhhhh don’t tell, but I am sometimes intimidated to play, so much darned talent… scary… But I just said Hey, let’s play! Thanks for being an inspiration….. and just reading your post to me, it seems it is catchy!!!!
Thanks for you lovely commens MAY, I look forward more inspiration from you in the coming CASology DT challenges!
