Hi, crafty friends. The current challenge at Catered Crop is to “Pack It Up” – focus on the packages; the tags, the bows, the treat boxes – any fun thing to give a little treat to someone. My quickfire post for Catered Crop is one day behind schedule since I couldn’t come up with any ideas until this morning. Then I received an invitation this morning from my friend to her son’s birthday party next Saturday. That was the moment when the little light bulb came on. So I decided to make some treat bags for kid’s birthday party.
These are some of the treat bags that I spend a whole afteroon to make. To create a mini treat bag, I started by cutting a 7″×12″ clear cello bag into 3-1/2″× 5″. Then I sewed both sides of the bag using my sewing machine. After all the bags were stitched, I trimmed off the edges of each bag except bottom with a pinking shears, trying not to cut the sewn parts.
Next, I created my own bear tags using a Silhouette cutting machine. It took me a while to get an appropriate size and shape of the bear that I was satisfied with, though. I cut the front and the back separately in different colored paper. After adhering two shapes together, I stamped the sentiment from Envelope Sentiments by Simon Says Stamp on a white belly.
Once all the tags were done, I filled my bags with yummy gummy bears and tied off them with some baker’s twine from The Twinery, after threading the tags. I’m so pleased with how my treat bags turned out.
It could easily change to a trick-or-treat bag for Halloween or baby shower favors depending on what color I use and what I put inside. Hope you enjoyed my treat bags and got some inspiration.
FYI, these are the supplies that I used for my creation: sewing machine was not pictured. That’s all for today. For more inspiration and all the details, please check out the Catered Crop blog. I hope you play along with us as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next recipe swap.
By the way, I’m linking this up to Simon Says Stamp Challenge: to use a product from their store and The Twinery Theme Challenge #0011: You’re Sew Fine.
Thanks, always, for stopping by! Happy crafting!
