Happy Friday! Today I’m thrilled to be joining the Catered Crop as a guest designer, since I won the last challenge with my Cherry Blossom Card. The challenge theme this week is to add baker’s twine or any other type of twine to a project.
Here is the card that I came up with for the Catered Crop. I was inspired by a twine-wrapped frame that I saw at a local store, FIREFLY, a few years ago. The frame was used to display gift tags which were for sale. Since then, this idea has been in my mind for a long time. I finally got the chance to apply it to my card.
To create a focal point, I started by cutting out two different-sized window frames from Kraft paper. Then I adhered them together and inked the edges of the frame with distress inks to make it look aged. Next I took some baker’s twine from The Twinery, wrapped it randomly around my frame, and tied it in the back.
After that, I cut the printed image into two pieces and I pinned them up using tiny wooden clothespins. FYI, I used the photo paper, which was inked with distress ink, under the images to look like real polaroid photos.
After I finished the twine-wrapped frame, I worked on creating the background. I chose some patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye, scored each of the four edges using a Martha Stewart scoring board. Then I inked the patterned paper with distress ink to look like vintage wallpaper.
To finish off my card, I attached the frame onto the wallpaper panel using dimensional adhesive. Then I stamped the sentiment which was from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings stamp set.
I had fun wrapping twine around the faux frame. I love the way it gave my card a unique vintage look. What do you think? Inking the edges of my card with distress inks added even more decades to my card. I’m just loving everything vintage at the moment.
