How-to Video | One-Layer Card w/ Watercolor Stamping Technique + $15 Altenew Gift Card Giveaway

Hi, crafty friends! Today I have a (faux) watercolor card to share with you all! I used the watercolor stamping technique which was on my to-try list for a long time. It was fun creating the watercolor look of handpainted images using stamps and inks.

To create my card, I inked up my stamps from the Wildflower Garden Stamp Set with Altenew inks, spritz the stamps with a water spray, and stamp the images on to my watercolor panel. I chose the toothy side of my watercolor paper as it helped me add more texture on the stamped images.

I used my Original MISTI Stamping Tool as I wanted to apply different colors for each stamping while I was stamping the images on the same position.

I repeated the same process until I created a field of wildflowers on the entire panel. FYI, here is the list of Altenew ink colors I used for stamping.

• Pink flower: Ruby Red, Coral Berry
• Orange flower: Rouge, Orange Cream
• Purple flowers: Lavender Fields, Deep Idris
• Stems and background: Forest Glades, Olive, Maple Yellow

To complete my background, I splattered the background with Altenew Inks. When you choose the colors for your splatter background, it’s safe to choose the colors from the color palette you used for your stamped images.

You can also flick the water onto the watercolor panel with your fingers or paintbrush and dab up water splatters with a paper towel to create some subtle texture.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Crafty Life Stamp Set and another sentiment from the Beautiful Inside Stamp Set with Altenew Permanent Black Ink onto the card front. I finished off my card by adding black lines along the edges to create a frame. 

The watercolor stamping technique is a super easy stamping technique that gives you the look of watercolor. If you haven’t tried it yet, I strongly recommend you give it a go. Anyone can achieve the great watercolor look of handpainted images.

By the way, this is the card I created using the Wildflower Garden Stamp Set last year. I used this card design as my stamping guide when I decided the placement of each image for today’s card. 😉
