Hello, and welcome to the Spellbinders September 2018 Release Blog Hop! If you came from the fabulous Svitlana Shayevich’s blog, you are right on track.
Inspired by Debby Hughes’s fabulous card, I created my own version of a winter holiday card using new products from Spellbinders: Christmas Candy Canes Stamp & Die Set and Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set.
I started by creating a winter night scene on a piece of A2 size Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. I ink blended my background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.
Next, I sprinkled water droplets on the ink blended background and lifted some of the colors with a paper towel. To finish off my winter night background, I added some splatters over the entire background using Hero Arts Unicorn White Spray and tiny dots toward the edge of my panel using Uni-Ball White Gel Pen.
After setting aside my ink blended panel for about 10 minutes to air dry, I mounted my panel on the A2 size top folding white card base using double-sided tape. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set with Altenew Evening Gray Ink. FYI, I stamped it twice in diagonal to get a better impression.
Next, I stamped my images from the Christmas Candy Canes Stamp & Die Set with Versafine Onyx Black Ink on a piece of Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper.
Then I colored them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Altenew Watercolor Medium Brush. By the way, I used my Uni-Ball White Gel Pen to hide my watercoloring mistake.
FYI, here is the list of Distress Ink colors I used for coloring:
- Candy: Festive Berries, Fired Brick
- Bow: Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough, Spiced Marmalade
I die cut my candy canes and bow using coordinating dies from the Christmas Candy Canes Stamp & Die Set with my Spellbinders Platinum Diecut Machine and assembled/mounted on the card front using 3M foam tape. To finish off my card, I added two jingle bells below my bow using Pretty Pink Posh Gold Jingle Bells to embellish my focal point.
It’s been a while since I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I had so much fun playing with them and I’m sure I’ll play more in the future. Hope you love what I created today.
