Happy Friday! Today I’m excited to guest design for a brand new company, Flora & Fauna. They have such cute, unique designs which are worth checking out HERE.
I created a one layer card with stamped background using the Birthday stamp set. I started by stamping the birthday cake with candles image in the center of my card front with black ink. Then I trimmed out the candle image from the cake stamp with scissors.
After stamping the cakes, I filled in the gaps with macaroons and cupcakes. Then I colored the images with Copic markers. To finish off my card, I added some dots with a black marker.
This is the same card before I added the black dots. Which card do you like better? That’s all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting.
I’m giving away one stamp set of your choice from Flora & Fauna. Leave a comment below telling me about the first time you made a handmade card. I will announce one lucky winner on Thursday, May 4th. Good luck!

I can’t remember exactly when I made my first handmade card, but I remember they were christmas cards and a used a cookie cutter in the shape of a tree as my stencil.

I’ve been a card maker since I was a young girl. It was the 70s, but I always drew the back view of an old fashioned girl. Her accessories were switched up depending on the occasion. I love your dotted background.

I started making cards about 12 years ago. My daughter took me to a scrapbooking class.
May . 01 . 2017Also got to see samples of card making. I haven’t been to a Hallmark store in 4 or 5 years.
Love to make my own card. thanks for sharing.

My first card was probably 4 years ago with CTMH and now I stamp more than scrapbook (my other passion). Every card is fun and so different.

I’ve never heard of this company before. Love learning about new to me crafty companies. Beautiful card! I like both versions but the one with the dots is a smidgen more complete looking to me. 😊 TFS Hugs Kristina

The first time I made a hand-stamped card was after a Stampin’ Up! event. Maybe in 2000? It’s been quite a bit of time! I still have my first stamp sets and I’ve kept my first card samples – how I used a hole punch for letters that I printed out on my computer as I didn’t have any letter stamps at the time.

The first time I made a card was over 15 years ago. I ran into a local newspaper ad about the stamping classes. That was a start of my addiction! 😀

Great card – I like the one with the dots best, although it’s close to a tie… As for the first time I made a card – wow, it’s been so long! I’m not sure it was the very first, but if not the first, then it was close. I was in a stamp store, and they were demonstrating the embossing powder, and we were using irons to melt it! Just holding the cardstock close to the heat. Funny to remember that now!

Hello May, LOVE your card and even though I am a “less is best” kind of person – the one with the dots is my favorite.
my first “adult” making card involved stamping and using embossing power – which I melted using the toaster – lol (that was about 18 years ago. Thank goodness for progress 😛

All I remember of 20+ years ago was that it was with Stamping Up when they still sold their foam stamps and I thought those sets were expensive (ha, ha). I still have several of the earliest ink pads (faded as they may be).

I am a new paper crafter. I made my first card in October of 2015, and it had a lot of stickers in it (Lol)! I have made lots of progress since then, and I can now make a pretty good card! 🙂

The first card I remember making was when I learned how to heat emboss in a craft store. It was so magical — I have been addicted ever since.

The first time I made a card as an adult was a few years ago. I pulled together scraps from wedding invites and it was so much fun! Made a few more the same way and then got addicted:)

Your card is so awesome. I don’t remember when I made my first card but I’ve been attempting to make cards now. There’s so much inspiration out there but that overwhelms me. I’ll keep trying and maybe one day I’ll come up with something I like.

I think the first handmade card that I ever created was around 2004.

May, you have such a gorgeous and unique style of cardmaking! I’m just in woah every time I see a card of yours!! I have been making cards since I was little, but I didn’t know that cardmaking was a thing until last year. I find this industry amazing and I’m so glad I stumbled into some random YouTube videos! That’s how I realized that I could do much more! :))

beautiful card, love the black dots on it, nice backround detail. The first card I made as an adult was for my mom’s birthday.

The first time I made a card was in grade school Valentines Day for mom. But I don’t think that’s what you mean. My first experience as an adult was in a Michaels store with a friend who was already making cards but had just moved to the area I’m in. It was exciting to see how great it turned out and I did it!
