One Layer Birthday Card with Stamped Background + Giveaway

by May Park-

Handmade Birthday Card - May Park -1

Happy Friday! Today I’m excited to guest design for a brand new company, Flora & Fauna. They have such cute, unique designs which are worth checking out HERE.

Handmade Birthday Card - May Park -2

I created a one layer card with stamped background using the Birthday stamp set. I started by stamping the birthday cake with candles image in the center of my card front with black ink. Then I trimmed out the candle image from the cake stamp with scissors.

Handmade Birthday Card - May Park -3

After stamping the cakes, I filled in the gaps with macaroons and cupcakes. Then I colored the images with Copic markers. To finish off my card, I added some dots with a black marker. Handmade Birthday Card - May Park -4

This is the same card before I added the black dots. Which card do you like better? That’s all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting.

oh my gosh, my first handmade card? as a child, I recall making valentines. as an adult, I was introduced anew to cardmaking by a coworker, probably about 2002. Dang, I’m sounding ancient. LOL. THx for the opportunity to win–you know I always enjoy your work

It was only about a year ago. I don’t remember what kind of card it was. Sure it was awful. Have learned a lot watching your videos. Love your style.

I cant remember the time I made my first card – it seems like a life time ago which is nearly true as I am retired. I still havent lost the thrill of buying new stamp and die sets, new inks etc and the joy it gives me when I am creating something new.

Oh, that’s like 15 years ago, can’t really remember that, but I know I know better now what I like and don’t like, found my style I guess!

Your cards are so pretty but I think the dotted one really sets the designs off. I started making cards a few years ago and was hooked right away!

Love your card. I think the dots finish it off. I started scrapbooking in 2005 and bought lots of paper and stickers!
Then kids birthdays came up so I used those stickers!!! And now I have a room full of papers, stamps, tools, dies, Cricut,
pens, pencils, etc. etc.!!!! I haven’t bought a card for about eleven years!

    Love the dots!
First card I made was for Christmas justifying it by saying I would save so much money by making my own….NOT….thousands of dollars and 10 years later……

Great use of the set for a background! I like the black dots added. It’s amazing what a difference just those dots make. I made my first card years ago when I got a cricut and cut some images. I have just started with stamping and am having fun learning all the techniques.

Love your creative card. Such pretty coloring and the dots are perfect. I first made a card around 20 years ago. My daughter gave me stamps for my birthday and I made a thank you card for her.

Delightful card! I like the one with the black dots! Such cute stamps… love the cake, cupcake, and pile of macarons that you used!
First time I made a stamped handmade card was a Father’s Day card for my Dad. It had a dog on it because he loved his pets, and a grassy scene with a tree. That was probably in about 1988 when I first got interested in stamping. Before that I’m sure I made handmade cards for my parents when I was in elementary school!

Oh my …..it’s been quite a long time when I first got into card making. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else. Loved your card with the dots. The dots just seemed to add that little spark. Thank you for sharing.

The dots just make it come together… My first card was made using one of the embossed pieces of cardstock I made with the Cuttlebug that I bought for my daughter as a present over a year ago. I don’t think she has ever used it, while I have acquired a spare room full of card-making supplies!!

One of my friends invited me to a Close to My Heart party in 2000. I was strictly a Scrapbooker! Make my first card at that party. Then the love of card making just grew from there. I love your style of card making and follow your log for trendy styles and inspiration.

Hi May! I like the dots on your card! The Flora and Fauna sets are adorable. I *need* the hedgie in the Woodland Creatures set! First time I made a card was in 1998 and I was hooked! It was sooo simple…stamp, hand-tear a mat, put on card base and voila! Still love that card.
