Lunar New Year Card using Gold Embossed Images | Altenew How-To Video

Happy Friday! Today I’m up on the Altenew blog with this card featuring Happy Dreams stamp set and Bold Alphabet die set. As the Lunar New Year is just around the corner, I wanted to create a sort of Happy New Year card by not using the common greeting “happy new year.”

Then I came up with my own sentiment, You make it happen! This also can be used for the encouragement card. By the way, my card inspiration came from the cover photo that I found on the fashion magazine.

I made a video tutorial to show you how to make this card from start to finish. I’m also sharing some tips along the way you won’t want to miss. 🙂 You can watch it here or on YouTube channel.

How to Make a Card with Gold Embossed Images

  1. Trim red cardstock into 4.25″x5.5″ using Tim Holtz paper trimmer and treat it with anti-static powder.
  2. Stamp the feather image from the Happy Dreams stamp set with Versamark watermark ink.
  3. Heat emboss the images using Ranger super fine gold embossing powder and heat gun.
  4. Mount my gold embossed panel on the A2 sized top folding white card base using double sided tape.
  5. Die cut YOU using the Bold Alphabet die set.
  6. White emboss the sentiment from the Happy Dreams stamp set on a piece of black cardstock.
  7. Add white dots between feathers using Signo white gel pen.
  8. Mount the die cut letters and sentiment banner on the card front using foam tape.

I hope my card inspired you to create your own card with gold embossed background. Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

    Hello May,
What a fabulous card – love the little white dots -I have to say though, I don’t have much luck with those white gel pens
🙁 Is there a specific way they should be stored?

Looking forward to watching the video!

I didn’t make any resolutions – LOL (I never keep them)!

I’m not sure if mine is a resolution or confession. I pledge to use more of my already purchased unopened fabulous card stamps and dies.

Gorgeous card! I love the gold embossing of that delicate feather image! I have several crafty resolutions, but the biggest one is to use any new supplies within 30 days! Thins tend to pile up on my desk as I’ve got two little kids that keep me pretty busy, so it also means that I have to be better about making time to craft.
