Hello, and welcome to the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit Blog Hop. If you came from the fabulous Mariana’s blog, you are right on track! Today the creative team girls are sharing some amazing projects to celebrate the release of November My Monthly Hero Kit.
I decided to play with small, fun images from the Mini Christmas stamp set which is one of optional add-on items from this month’s kit. I just wanted to show you that sometimes you don’t need to color in all the images to create a card. You still can achieve the finished look with some images uncolored like my card above. If you love stamping, but not good at coloring like me, this design can be your go-to cardmaking formula.
How to Create a Holiday Card using Small Images
- Make an A2 size top folding card out of Hero Arts Snow Layering Papers.
- Draw pencil lines 0.25″ inside from the edges of the card front using a ruler.
- Mask off the outside the lines using some sticky notes.
- Stamp the images from the Hero Arts Mini Christmas stamp set with Hero Arts Intense black ink and remove the sticky notes. (Make sure to stamp the large images first and fill in the gap with small images.)
- Color the images with Copic markers and add some dots on the trees using Sakura Glaze White Pen. Then erase the pencil lines.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Hero Arts Christmas Messages stamp set with VersaMark watermark ink on a piece of red cardstock.
- Heat emboss the sentiment with Hero Arts white embossing powder.
- Die cut a tag using Hero Arts Numer It Stamp & Cut and pop it up using foam tape on the card front.
Depending on what color combo you choose for your images, you can create a various look on your card. As you can see, I used the traditional holiday colors, red and green, for my first card. It can look so boring at some point as we see way too many reds/greens leading up to the holiday season. Then don’t be afraid to go with non-traditional colors to get a fresh look for your card design. This month’s kit includes:
- A 4″x6″ clear stamp set
- A set of 13 dies for creating diamond-shaped ornaments and embellishments
- A VersaMark ink cube
- White Puff embossing powder
- 10 half sheets of vellum cardstock
- 2 half sheets of each cardstock: metallic red, metallic blue and patterned
- Ornament hooks and more!

I love the cards. Using the post it notes to make a margin around all sides makes. It looks fun but polished as well. I will have to sues that, great way to make your own background. Inspiring? Thank you
