My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #304: Deer Friend Christmas Card

Hi, crafty friends! Today I’m up on the My Favorite Things Challenge blog with my last card as their October guest designer. This time I created a Christmas card with full of fun images from two fabulous stamp sets from My Favorite Things: Beast Friends and Merry Everything.

How to Make a Handmade Christmas Card using Masking & Copic Coloring

  1. Draw an oval shape on A2 size white card base using a pencil.
  2. Stamp the sentiment from the Hand-Lettered Christmas stamp set inside the oval with black ink.
  3. Stamp the small images outside the oval with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. (I used the Beast Friends stamp set and Merry Everything stamp set from My Favorite Things.)
  4. Stamp the same images on a masking paper and cut them out using scissors to create masks.
  5. Stamp the images repeatedly to fill in the gaps while overlapping the images by masking off them.
  6. Remove the masks and erase the pencil line.
  7. Color the images using Copic markers, add some dots on the trees and scarf using Sakura Glaze white pen.
  8. Stamp the sentiment from the Merry Everything stamp set with Versamark Watermark ink on a piece of red cardstock. Heat emboss the sentiment with Ranger white embossing powder. Then mount the sentiment banner on the card front using foam tape.
  9. Finish off the card by adding some glitters on the Santa’s hats with Ranger Star Dust Stickles.

Since I wanted to achieve intense outlines for my images, I had to do double stamping them using Mini MISTI stamping tool. I spent most of my time masking off the images – stamp the image, create a mask, cover the image with the mask, stamp another image on the masked area, remove the mask, and repeat!!!

It took me almost three hours to complete this card. Whew! But I love how it turned out. What do you think? That’s all for today. I hope my card inspired you to create your own Christmas card. Happy crafting!
