DIY Fairyland Themed Card using Watercoloring

Hello, and welcome to the My Monthly Hero kit launch blog hop. If you came from the fabulous Clare’s blog, you are right on track! Today the creative team girls are sharing some fabulous projects to celebrate the release of August My Monthly Hero kit.

DIY Fairyland Themed Card using Watercoloring

I created a fairyland themed card with watercoloring. I used the fairy images from the main kit and colored them with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I used both forest border frame die from the main kit and add on floral border frame die to set the scene.

I’m not a fan of small images when it comes to watercoloring. However, I had so much fun coloring with these whimsical images. I really love the delicate details of these dies. They are perfect to make any whimsical projects.

DIY Fairyland Themed Card using Watercoloring

I made a video tutorial to show you how to make this watercolor card from start to finish. You can watch it below or on my YouTube channel. Hope you find it helpful.

How to Make a Fairyland Themed Card using Watercoloring

  1. Stamp the fairy images from the main kit with Hero Arts black ink on a piece of Arches watercolor paper. (I used the mini MISTI stamping tool to make sure I get a good impression while stamping on the watercolor paper.)
  2. Color the fairies with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens. (There are so many mediums you can watercolor with. You may find this video helpful : Watercoloring Mediums Comparison.)
  3. Die cut the fairies with coordinating dies using Cuttlebug diecut machine.
  4. Create a watercolor wash background using Mijello Mission Gold Watercolor Set. (To get the better result, use a large paintbrush and heat the paint before adding more colors.)
  5. Add some ink splatters on the watercolor background using Hero Arts unicorn white spray.
  6. Die cut the frames using forest border frame die and floral border frame die out of woodgrain white cardstock.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the Dreams Are Made stamp set on the watercolor panel with black ink.
  8. Adhere the watercolor panel on a A2 sized top folding card using double sided tape.
  9. Mount the diecut frames and fairies on the card using foam tape.
  10. Add several Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets on the card front and apply Ranger Star Dust Stickles on the wings.
