CASology #128: One Layer Valentine’s Day Card

by May Park-

Hello crafty friends! It’s Tuesday and that means time for a brand new challenge over at CASology. Here is this week’s cue card:

Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 10.49.12 PMAs always, you can interpret the word literally or go for something a bit more outside the box. Here is my take on DATE:

I made a one layer card for upcoming Valentine’s Day. Did you notice that I created my own image? Yes, that big cheese! I used distress inks and sticky notes to create my own cheese.

This is how I put together my Valentine’s Day card. 1)Draw the shape of cheese using pencil and mask it off using sticky notes. Then color the open area using blending tools and Distress inks: Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey. 2)Layer the Heidi Swapp’s confetti stencil over the masked area and sponged over the circles using Wild Honey and Hero Arts Butter Bar. 3)Remove all the sticky notes and place another stick note to cover the top part of card front. Then apply colors using a blending tool and a couple of inks: Antique Linen and Goldenlocks. 4)Stamp the mouse image and sentiment from Waffle Flower Crafts’s Monochrome stamp set and the cluster of hearts from Mama Element’s Purrfect Pair stamp set.

I failed to blend the colors perfectly for the cheese, but I’m so in love with the way my card turned out. So fun and cute! I hope you love the little scene that I created. (I’m entering my card into the following challenges: Simon Says Wednesday, One-Layer Simplicity, and Virginia’s View challenge #11.)

Now it’s your turn to play along. There is a wonderful prize up for grabs from Cindy B Designs and the winner will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge – more details are on the CASology blog. Make sure to stop by the rest of the design team for more inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!!
