CASology #127: Happy New Year Card using Symbol of Year 2015
Happy Tuesday! Last week we had a ton of wonderful SNOW creations over at CASolgoy! With all the ‘white’ space in the entries, we were in CAS heaven. Keep it up! And it’s time to get creative again, and here is this week’s cue card:
As always, you can interpret the word literally or go for something a bit more outside the box. Here is my take on LIGHT:
I created a happy new year card using a sheep image which is a symbol of the new year 2015, according to Chinese lunar calendar. I stamped the candle image around the border as a ranch fence. After coloring the sheep with Copics, I die cut it and adhered it on the card front using foam dots. You won’t be able to see from the photo, but I added some shimmer on the wool with Wink of Stella glitter clear marker.
I made another card using same theme but different color. For my card base, I chose the Pantone color of the year 2015 which is Marsala, an earthy reddish-brown shade. This time I heat embossed the sentiment and candles using Hero Arts Silver embossing powder.
FYI, these are the stamp sets that I used to create my card: the sheep from Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcakes, the bow from Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair, the candle from Penny Black Friendship, and the sentiment from Hero Arts Holiday Sayings.
Now it’s your turn to play along. There is a wonderful prize up for grabs from Add a Little Dazzle and the winner will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge – more details are on the CASology blog. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a lovely festive season and all the best for a happy (and crafty) 2015!
