CASology #121: Christmas Gift Tag with Metallic Die-cut Sentiment

Happy Tuesday! It’s time for a new CASology challenge, and we are showing off Christmas tags along with this week’s cue word, Festive. The fabulous Tracey McNeely is having a fun event over at her blog called the ‘25 Days of Christmas Tags‘, and she invited the CASology team to play along.

I created a Christmas gift tag using a stitched tag die from Pretty Pink Posh. To build my own mini winter scene, I masked off the penguin images and inked the colors using Distress Inks. I chose a gold foil paper to die cut a part of the sentiment using Merry Christmas die from Simon Says Stamp. To complete my sentiment, I stamped “merry” in white using the sentiment from Holiday Sayings stamp set by Hero Arts.

I supposed to make a clean and simple tag, but I couldn’t resist stamping all the tiny snowflakes from Jolly and Merry stamp set by Mama Elephant all over the inked background. *wink*

This is my second tag that I made using same theme. This time I inked slightly light colors for the background and used a silver foil paper for the sentiment die cut. I also fancied up the top of my tag using some white satin ribbon after setting an white eyelet.

This is how I created my Christmas tag. 1)Die cut a tag using Stitched Dueo 1 die set from Pretty Pink Posh. Then stamp penguins from Arctic Penguqins stamp set with Memento Tuxedo black ink. 2)Mask off the penguins and ink the colors using Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Dusty Concord, and Peacock Feathers. 3)Spray the Perfect Pearls Mists over the inked background. (I used the Heidi Swapp Color Shine White for another tag.) 4)Color the penguins with Copics. Then add some shimmer on the snowy hill using glitter marker. 5)Die cut the sentiment twice using Merry Christmas die from Simon Says Stamp out of foil paper and white paper. Then adhere them together and glue the sentiment on the tag. 6)Stamp the sentiment in white from Holiday Sayings stamp set by Hero Arts. Then trace the sentiment using a white gel pen. Stamp the tiny snowflakes from Jolly and Merry stamp set by Mama Elephant with white ink.

I had so much fun making Christmas tags and ended up with 8 tags. Lol! Hope you like my creations and get some inspiration to create your own tags.

I can’t believe I have never run across this style of card making before! I just love these cards… and it somehow expresses the style that I have been working towards for years; how wonderful!
