CASology #120: One-Layer CAS Christmas Card

by May Park-

Hello crafty friends! It’s Tuesday and that means time for a brand new challenge over at CASology. Last week we had so many creative entries, and you all rock on Ghost challenge! Now it’s time to get creative again, and here is this week’s cue card:

Screen Shot 2014-11-03 at 9.08.09 PMAs always, you can interpret the word literally or go for something a bit more outside the box. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:

DSC_3122-2I made a clean and simple one layer card using a cute penguin image from Arctic Penguqins stamp set by Mama Elephant. To create my imaginary winter scene, I drew some fishing rod and hole in the iceberg using a black marker. It would be so wonderful if we could catch some presents in the sea. I know my idea is far from realistic. But we can make anything happen when it comes to making cards, right? It’s hard to see from the photo, but I added some glitter on the penguin’s hat and ice using Wink of Stella glitter marker. (By the way, I’m linking my card up to the Mama Elephant and Me challenge.)

sample_1103This is how I created my Christmas card. 1)Stamp the penguin first from Arctic Penguqins stamp set with Memento Tuxedo black ink. Then mask off the penguin and stamp the iceberg image from the same set. 2)Draw some fishing rod and hole in the ice using ZIG black marker. 3)Stamp the gift boxes from the same set in black. 4)Cover the stamped images using some sticky notes and apply colors using a blending tool and distress inks: Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. 5)Color the images with Copic sketch markers. 6)Stamp the sentiment from Rustic Wreath stamp set by Papertrey Ink.

Now it’s your turn to play along. I can’t wait to see how all of you talented participants interpret this week’s cue word. There is a wonderful prize up for grabs from Cindy B Designs and the winner will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge – more details are on the CASology blog. Make sure to stop by the rest of the design team for more inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!

I’m not sure exactly why but this site is loading
very slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem
on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.

Aw, this was a very good post. Finding the time and actual effort to produce a superb article… but what can I say… I procrastinate
a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything
    done.
