CASology #102: Clean and Simple One Layer Card

by May Park-

Happy Tuesday! Last week we had a ton of wonderful CAS creations over at CASolgoy! With all the ‘white’ space in the entries, we were in CAS heaven. Keep it up! And it’s time to get creative again, and here is this week’s cue card:

Screen Shot 2014-06-29 at 8.01.10 PMAs always, you can interpret the word literally or go for something a bit more outside the box. I love seeing what you come up with each week and I’m ready for a fresh batch of inspiration from you as I visit your blogs. Without further ado, here is my take on FLOAT.

I created a simple one layer card inspired by a floating shelf in my place. I love placing flowers on the shelf, and I wanted to have them on my card as well. Does it look like a wooden floating shelf to you, too? I made my shelf using rectangle label stamp by stamping a part of the image in brown ink. It was so fun to use the label stamp in a different way.

Here is a closer look at my card. It’s hard to see from the photo, but I used some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker on my flowers to add some shimmer. Then I applied Glossy Accents on my vase for adding clear and dimensional look. They look way better in real life.

sample_0629This is a quick step-by-step photo tutorial on how I put together my one layer card. 1)Stamp the part of label image from Bowtiful Additions Stamp Set by Waffle Flower. (I used a sticky note for masking.) 2)Stamp the main image in black ink. (I only stamped the flowers by covering the sentiment using sticky note. For a perfect placement, I used stamp positioner.) 3)Stamp the sentiment from Doodlie-Do Stamp Set by Papertrey Ink. 4)Color the focal image using Copics. Finish off the card by adding some glitter and glossy accents.

Why users still use to read news papers when in this technological world the whole thing is presented on web?
