Happy Monday! I’m so thrilled and honored that I’m in the Top 10 of the Paper Crafts Magazine’s Gallery Idol card contest. Thanks so much to all of you who voted for my little mermaid card and made me to continue such an exciting journey. I really appreciate your support.
Now it’s time to focus on Round 4! The theme is to create a card with border stamps. This challenge pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. Because I rarely use border stamps on my creations. It’s just that I have no idea what to do with it. To top that off, I don’t own many border stamps to choose. So I borrowed a couple of stamp sets from my sweet friend, Alice, and a star border image from the sets gave me an important clue to come up the ideas. Without further ado, here is my take on Border Stamp challenge:
I made a fairy tale themed card inspired by The Little Prince. I wanted to describe one of my favorite scene from the story in a whimsical way. So I designed my own silhouette image of prince using Silhouette Design Studio. I also added shades of purple on my card front to create fantasy mood. Then I used two border stamps, stars and polka dots, to create space-like background. The heat embossed panel and prince image were popped up on the card base using foam tape. I really love how it turned out! Hope you like it, too. Here is how I put together my card:
1)Cut a piece of purple cardstock into 4.25″x5.5″. Then die cut a few circles using Lifestyle Crafts Circles die set to shape a planet. After that, ink over the panel to blend in the colors using Distress inks: Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord. 2)Stamp the stars from Pattern Basics stamp set by JustRite Stampers. Then heat emboss it using gold embossing powder. Next, create a shooting star image using the little star from Hey Mr stamp set and line image from Envelope Sentiment stamp set. 3)Cut the silhouette of prince using Silhouette cutting machine and adhere it on the inked panel using foam tape. Then, create a shape of scarf using scissors and adhere it on the prince. (I inked the edges of scarf and curled them up to add some details.) 4)Stamp the sentiment from Making Memories All Occasion stamp set in black. 5)Stamp the polka dot image from Pattern Basics stamp set on a piece of yellow cardstock in Memento Desert Sand. 6)Adhere the purple panel on the yellow cardstock using foam tape to add some dimension. Then finish off the card by adhering the panel on the card base.
Here is a close-up of my card. The gold embossed stars and inked background look fabulous in real life. That silhouette of little prince looks so adorable with the yellow scarf waving, too. I also think the shooting star with trail is like icing on the cake. What do you think? Hope you can catch the awesomeness from the photo above. By the way, I’m sharing my cutting file for some of you who want to make your own card using it. Please click HERE to download the silhouette image of little prince. The file also includes a little girl silhouette in case.
