Waffle Flower: Sequin Shaker Blog Hop

by May Park-

Happy Monday! Waffle Flower Crafts is sponsoring the Sequin Shaker Blog Hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh on April 26th! Everyone is invited to link up your sequin shaker cards on the hop day to join. If you need more sequins, you can use coupon code BLOGHOP to save 15% on your order at Pretty Pink Posh from now through the hop day.

Today, our Waffle Flower design team girls are sharing some sequin shaker cards to help spread the word. If you came from the amazing Lorena Cantó’s blog, you are already on your way! If not, you may want to jump back to the Waffle Flower Crafts blog to get started from the beginning. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:

DSC_2657My inspiration came from the quote that we’ve been saying all month- April showers bring May flowers. For some reason, this quote reminded me of my beautiful childhood in the countryside. My grandma used to collect the rainwater in the bucket or plastic tub when it rained. Then my family used it for everything except for cooking and drinking.

I wanted my card to look like April showers falling down in the bucket. So, I used the Springtime Mix Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to represent the rainfall in springtime. Please say that you see some raindrops in my card. *wink*

Here is how I created my card. 1)Stamp the sentiment from the Bowtiful Stamp Set using Memento Espresso Truffle. 2)Stamp the bucket image from the Hey Mr Stamp Set using versamark ink. 3)Pour some Liquid Platinum embossing powder over the stamped image and heat-emboss it using heat tool. 4)Cut the top portion of the bucket using craft knife. 5)Attach the clear acrylic sheet at the back of the oval window, fill it up with the sequins, and cover the back with a piece of paper using dimensional adhesive to help the sequins move around. 6)Adhere some sequins on the card front using glue dots.

Oh, I just found out my photo tutorial didn’t include one step. After heat embossing the bucket image, I stamped the shadow image under the bucket using masking technique. I first stamped on the scrap paper to make the ink color soft before stamping on the card base.

This is a close up of my shaker element. As I mentioned, I used the awesome Springtime Mix Sequins because there are some tiny pink flower sequins in there. I can’t get enough of those sweet sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. They are super cute! I love the way my card turned out. So fun and lovely as well. Those sequin scatters in various colors absolutely make me happy! What do you think?

Since I started my card by the theme with the rainwater in the bucket, it made me think of my grandma who died last year.  Miss her so much! But, I’m glad that I have countless precious memories of her. This shaker card aimed to reflect one of those wonderful memories.

FYI, these are the supplies that I used for my shaker card. I used the two different sized circle dies from My Favorite Things’ Circle Die-namics to cover the window. But you don’t need to use the die to make the card. Just cut out the paper using scissors, making sure to cut it big enough to cover the window.
