Hi, crafty friends! Today I’m sharing my quickfire card for the Catered Crop: Put a Bird On It challenge.
Bring out the chickens, ducks, owls, eagles, just their feathers or eggs, or even NBA star Larry Bird, and show us how everything is magically better with a bird on it.
I used Rock My World Stamp Set from Waffle Flower Crafts and the bird stamp that I got at Michael’s. Then I pulled out Copics for coloring! Did I say Copics? Oh my! It’s been six months since I used Copic markers for my card. My sweet teamie Kimberly on the CASology design team encouraged me to do some Copic coloring. I really appreciate that she gave me great support to play outside my comfort zone. I hear someone laughs, because it’s not a big deal to some of you. I know, it’s too simple coloring and nothing fancy technique involved in my card. But that means a lot to me. Who knows whether I would become a copic expert some day, starting from this piece of bird image. LOL!
Here is how I created my card. 1)Stamp the rock image on a kraft card base from Papertrey Ink. 2)Clear emboss the stamped image using heat gun. 3)Stamp the bird image in black. 4)Color the bird with Copics. 5)Add the sentiment in black. 6)Color some shadow under the rock using distress marker. That’s it! That clear embossing added a slightly raised effect and some texture to the rocks. It looks so awesome in real life.
I really love how my card turned out after trying six cards. Yes, I made another six cards to achieve one perfect card that I’m satisfied with. Crazy? Yes, I’m way too meticulous when it comes to card making. I can’t stand one single teeny tiny flaw. How about you? Hope I’m not the only one. 😉 By the way, I’m entering this into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge #130.
FYI, these are the supplies I used to create my card: heat tool was not pictured. That’s it for today! Hope you like my card and get some inspiration.
There is a fabulous Pinterest board that Linda has curated. You can head over to her board, Put a Bird On It, to find links to all the inspiring projects. Make sure to stop by the Catered Crop blog to see the rest of the DT creations. I hope you play along with us as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next challenge.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend! Happy crafting!
