Happy November! Hope you are having a great start to a new month. Today I’m sharing my quickfire card for the current Catered Crop: Washi’s Up challenge. We want to see you use Japanese masking tape – Washi tape somewhere on your creation.
This is my card inspired by a couple of challenges: a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #52 and a cue word – black from CASology #68. I also wanted to play along with CAS-ual Fridays #119: embossing, so I used both dry embossing and heat embossing.
I started by running a piece of Kraft cardstock from Papertrey Ink through the Cuttlebug machine in a stripe background embossing folder from Darice. Then I rubbed white ink pad directly onto the embossed background to add some interest. I learned this easy yet awesome technique from Kristina Werner while watching her card making video tutorial yesterday.
After that, I created the heat embossed banner using a snowflake stamp and clear embossing powder. Then I attached the cut out sentiment on the bottom of my banner. This sentiment die, “happy” die from Simon Says Stamp, is amazing! FYI, the sentiment was covered with red stripe diagonal washi tape. Next, I added in a bow and a little heart finish it off.
These are the supplies I used to create my card: the heat tool and Cuttlebug were not pictured.
As usual, Linda has curated an fabulous Pinterest board with Washi tape inspiration. You can head over to her board, Washi Tape, to find links to all the inspiring projects. I hope you play along with us at Catered Crop as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next recipe swap. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the DT creations on Sunday, Nov 03.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Happy crafting!

Holy cow! You used some AMAZING techniques here! I can’t believe the background paper was made with an embossing folder! It looked so professional and I was impressed at how skillfully you created the white stripes. I also adored what you did with the Washi and the sentiment. Genius!
