Hi, crafty friends! It’s been long since I made a card, looks like I post my card only for Catered Crop every other week. I won’t deny it. I tried a couple of cards earlier, but they were below my expectations. Now I’m so happy that I have one card which turned out well to share with you all, thankfully before the deadline for designer’s quickfire card. Being a member of design team at Catered Crop makes me creative at least every two weeks. Ha-ha!
The current challenge at Catered Crop is “Map it”: using map in paper crafts has been a hot trend for the last year as Linda said. But I haven’t had a chance to apply it on my card, and I thought using map wasn’t that fascinating to have myself to work with. To be honest, I couldn’t think of any good idea, and I didn’t get along with maps in terms of paper crafts. Nuff said!
For my card, I rummaged around in my craft room for a while to get anything related to map and found out some map paper from my stash. The paper was originally lightly distressed, so I ended up with a vintage card. To give my card a more aged look, I darkened the edges of all papers that I used with Blending Tool & Walnut Stain Distress Ink and torn them using a Paper Distresser. Then I drew the lines between city names with a brown marker.
Then I stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things and heat embossed in brown on the bottom of my panel. While I was making this card, I wanted to reflect how I think about travel/journey. It’s inspiring all the time in many ways. I get to learn lots of new things along the beautiful scenery. So this sentiment worked perfectly for my “Map It” card. What do you think? Hope you like it.
As usual, there is an fabulous Pinterest board that Linda has curated. You can head over to her board, Map It, to find links to all the inspiring projects. I hope you play along with us as the winners will have a chance to guest design on the next recipe swap. Plus, check out the rest of the DT creations on Sunday, Aug 25 at Catered Crop.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend!
