Card, Papertrey Ink

Happy Birthday to a Little Princess

by May Park-

Happy Friday! A few days ago I got an invitation from my friend to her daughter’s 3rd birthday celebration. She mentioned it’ll be a Rapunzel theme party to make her little girl’s dream come true. For some of you who might not know Rapunzel, she is a fictional character who appears in the animated film Tangled. I’m looking forward to seeing little kids dressing up like princesses or princes at the party this evening. By the way, should I wear a princess dress, too? Ha-ha!

So I decided to create her birthday card on the theme of Rapunzel. I recalled what I saw in the movie Tangled and selected some adjectives to brainstorm about before I started making the card. Greenery, blooming, fairy-tale, purple, magical, and so on. That’s the way I came up with my card.

Since I didn’t have a stamp for the image of a princess, I stamped a little girl, Tilda, and  tried to make her to look like a princess. I colored her dress purple using Copic markers and put some glitter glue onto part of her dress. Then I decorated her hair with a big bow, and I placed a shiny gemstone in the middle of the bow. I also affixed metal gold-colored accents in the center of the rose.

For the background, I chose some patterned papers from the BasicGrey Hey Girl collection. I made several pleats in a strip of fabric using a sewing machine to add dimension between the two different papers. Doesn’t she look like she’s standing on a hill filled with wild flowers? BTW, the sentiment is from Inside&Out: Birthday by Papertrey Ink. Lastly, I machine stitched along the bottom of the patterned paper for a more finished look.

By the way, it’s June gloom here where I live in Southern California. It means I can’t get enough light to take better photos of my creations. I’m so sick of having cloudy weather every time I wake up in the morning. Hope to get sunshine back soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a lovely weekend!

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A number of my blog readers have complained about my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any solutions to help fix this issue?|
